Fuel Required is pleased to present this amazing 1912 American LaFrance Model 12 Firetruck. The American LaFrance Fire Engine Company was one of the oldest fire apparatus manufacturers in America. With roots that go back to approximately 1832, the companies that went on to become American LaFrance built hand-drawn, horse-drawn, and steam-powered fire engines. This particular pumper was delivered to Lakewood Fire Department outside of Cleveland, Ohio on June 10, 1912 and has quite a history. The short story is, Lakewood purchased the truck new in 1912 as Engine #01 and in 1921 it was updated, then in 1928 it was used as a trade-in with American LaFrance on our new Fire Engine. Later that year Clark, New Jersey purchased it from American LaFrance where it became Engine #14. Clark used it then stored it. In 1999 the entire ruck was restored and refurbished for its 75th birthday. Finally, the truck was purchased back by Lakewood in 2015 and returned to where it all began. This chain-driven truck has been well cared for and retains its original American LaFrance six-cylinder engine. The pump turns with ease, and it goes down the road nice and straight.
